Jun. 24--Six young teens from northeast Charlotte say they will take a message of hope later this year to children in South Africa, as part of a new cultural exchange program involving Charlotte-area students.
The six -- five from Martin Luther King Jr. Middle and the other from Eastway Middle -- will travel in November, sponsored by Samaritan's Feet and the United Way of the Central Carolinas.
Samaritan's Feet, a Charlotte-based charity, raises money to buy shoes for children from impoverished nations, because a lack of footwear is cited by experts as one key reason many youths don't attend school. It is operating in 12…
