Jun. 24--MOORESVILLE -- Marshall Hampton was a kid in the mid-1960s when he first plied Lake Norman in a sailboat.
He'll never forget that first feeling of independence, of being in control.
Now 46, the native Charlottean is still at it. And just as his dad did with him, Hampton is spreading his love of the sport to his own son, Brian.
Brian, 9, joined 107 other campers ages 8 to 18 last week for the annual Lake Norman Yacht Club Junior Sailing Camp, which Marshall Hampton attended in the lake's early years.
