Jun. 19--CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Bradley County Sheriff Tim Gobble appealed to the Bradley County Commission on Monday to restore nearly $4 million in cuts made by the Finance Committee to his proposed 2007-08 budget.

"I didn't create the problem. I'm just trying to fix it," Mr. Gobble told commissioners.

Dozens of officers in the audience applauded.

Mr. Gobble spent an hour and 20 minutes making his comments and fielding questions from commissioners about his proposed $4.3 million budget increase.
