Jun. 19--RECOGNIZING THAT HIGHLAND PARK -- the Chattanooga neighborhood with the highest juvenile crime rate last year -- is without a public recreation center, city officials have teamed up to give children a place to spend their free time this summer.
"We wanted to try to get at least something in the area for the kids," said Chattanooga Recreation Centers and Programs Director Bob Saylors, who helped to launch a six-week pilot program that began Monday at the playground at East Side Elementary off East Main Street. "It's a gap-filler for parents."
