If the answer is 'stressed', you might find it that much harder to give up smoking.
According to the Eurobarometer study of consumer habits in the EU, almost half of all smokers report that stress is the main reason why they struggle to give up.
This nicotine paradox could increase the volume of huddled masses congregating outside buildings to light up. Modern life is stressful and many people use cigarettes as a way to cope. The smoking ban will increase that stress because they will not be able to light up at their desk, the bar, or possibly the bus stop.
