Jun. 18--In the wake of Mike Nifong's decision to resign and surrender his law license, the legal, political and emotional toll of the Duke University lacrosse case will continue.

A three-member panel of the State Bar's disciplinary committee disbarred Nifong on Saturday after finding that he violated ethics rules in his prosecution of three innocent men who had been accused of sexually assaulting an escort service dancer at a party. An attorney for Nifong said in court that the career prosecutor waived his right to appeal the decision.
