Jun. 16--A Washington soldier who was serving in Iraq has died, the Department of Defense announced Friday.

Pfc. Casey Carriker, 20, of Hoquiam, died Wednesday in Kirkuk, Iraq, from injuries suffered from a "non-combat related incident," according to a news release. He was part of an infantry division based in Hawaii.

The death is under investigation, according to a public-affairs officer for the infantry division. It's unclear how Carriker died; the Army declined to elaborate.

Carriker's stepmother, Pammy Carriker, said her family heard about the death Wednesday when Army chaplains visited her Hoquiam home. She was …
