Jun. 13--A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg teacher who was set to be hired by Lincoln County Schools faces charges of possessing and dealing cocaine.

Brian Hunter Zickefoose, 26, of Maiden, was arrested Tuesday after a narcotics bust in Lincoln County.

The principal of S. Ray Lowder Elementary in Lincolnton had recommended that Zickefoose be hired as a physical education teacher for 2007-08, spokeswoman Belinda Branson said. The school board had not yet acted on the request but likely would have at Wednesday night's meeting. The school system will not hire Zickefoose, Branson said.
