Jun. 14--Newton-Conover Middle School, say hello to khaki pants and polo shirts: Starting in August, all students at the school will be required to wear uniforms.
For parents, the decision will transform shopping trips. For students, it means they'll head to school next fall without mini-skirts, baggy pants, jeans and a plethora of T-shirts emblazoned with slogans and logos.
And for teachers at the school, it brings a sense of relief.
The school board adopted the new policy, first proposed months ago by staff members increasingly frustrated by what they saw as gray areas in the existing student dress code, by a 5-1 vote Tuesday.
