More single folks are buying homes in the suburbs than ever before, and it is a trend that is expected to continue.
This singles-to-the-suburbs phenomenon was first noticed during the 2000 Census, when the number of single homeowners living in many suburban neighborhoods surpassed family households by a small margin.
Demographer William Frey, in his study for the Washington, D.C.-based Brookings Institution, noted this trend toward more racially diverse, single suburban households.
