Jun. 11--The decision Lake County School Board members have to make today ought to be a no-brainer. They have the remarkable opportunity to lay the foundation for a new health-sciences magnet high school where students could earn a high-school diploma and a community-college degree in four years.
Unfortunately, the dysfunctional relationship between School Board members and Lake Superintendent Anna Cowin has made this anything but a sure thing. Mrs. Cowin won the support of the School Board last November for this terrific idea and ran with the concept. She's planning for the freshman class to start this August in temporary classrooms added to East Ridge High School.…
