The Riverbluffs Health Services Alliance and the recent addition of three hospitals to the Unity Health Network are examples of the growing trend toward consolidation of health care in southwestern Illinois.

Two East St. Louis area hospitals joined forces with private physicians and neighboring primary care clinics to cut costs while providing a continuum of services to a target population of about 70,000.
