Jun. 8--They were hired to protect the merchandise at the sprawling Rosedale Center. Now four security guards stand accused of pilfering thousands of dollars of merchandise from the mall's stores.

Roseville police arrested the guards on Wednesday while investigating a rash of burglaries within the mall the past few weeks.

The guards, who were employed by IPC International and working under contract for the mall, are believed to have burglarized stores in the mall after completing their security shifts, Roseville police said in a prepared statement.
