The automobile industry is seeking to restrict public and media access to portions of the first-in-the-nation trial on vehicle emissions standards, scheduled to begin this month in federal court in Vermont.
At issue is a lawsuit by three Vermont auto dealerships and major industry players, including DaimlerChrysler Corp. and General Motors Corp., against three Vermont officials in the Agency of Natural Resources who are responsible for instituting emissions regulations.
