Felipe Massa offered no excuses after the Monaco Grand Prix. "The McLaren pace today was incredible,'' he said. "There was nothing to do against them-even if I'd driven at 150 percent all the way.''
As it was, he was the only driver not lapped by Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Massa, winner of the two previous Grands Prix, qualified third behind the McLarens and hoped that his Ferrari might be able to challenge them in the race. But although he was able to run with Hamilton in the early laps, Alonso checked out, and Hamilton was soon away up the road, too.
