More voltage
Need more proof that General Motors is deadly serious about developing the plug-in hybrid electric-powered Volt future car? Word from GM's design center in Michigan is that Bob Boniface, director of advanced design, has been ordered to take command of a studio solely dedicated to designing cars using the Volt/E-Flex powertrain. GM is investing $500 million in the project and hopes to put a version of the car on the road by 2010.
HemisFoose?
A June 7 meeting could resolve the impasse on the Hemisfear name for Chip Foose's two-seater (see page 32). Chrysler had told Foose he could not call his Hemi-powered product the Hemisfear, so Foose decided to use Ford engines and call them Foose Coupes.
