AGAINST ALL ODDS; Casey Mears breaks through in the Coca-Cola 600.(Motorsports)

Every smart-money bet on the Coca-Cola 600 should have leaned toward Hendrick Motorsports. Driver Jimmie Johnson has five wins at Lowe's Motor Speedway, including three of the last four 600s. Teammate and points leader Jeff Gordon has four, three in the 600. Kyle Busch has never won a Cup race at LMS but has two Busch Series wins and two in Craftsman Trucks. Oh, and Rick Mears' nephew drives for Hendrick, too. But he'd never won a Cup race, so your best play was probably one of the team's top four.
Yet Casey Mears beat the odds and won the 600-miler; his first Cup win in 156 starts made him the fifth active driver after Gordon, Bobby ...
