For a good part of the day, all we heard were swallows arguing in the still air, exchanging little cheepity-cheep-cheeps that may or may not mean anything at all in bird language but sounded quite pleasant to human ears too long in the city.
Then, without so much as a "Clear!'' the pleasant pastoral setting was shattered by a distinctly mechanical assault: first the electrically driven whipitywhipitywhip of a small starter motor geared up to something much, much larger, followed by the whang-BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP of a barely muffled 6.4-liter, 540-hp Hemi V8, the dual exhaust tips of which were aimed just about square at us.
