The beginning of a man's career can be superstressful. "A guy's masculinity is tied into how successful he is," explains George Weinberg, PhD, author of Why Men Won't Commit. As a result, he may put undue pressure on himself initially and work long hours. "Try not to add to his stress by nagging him about how he's neglecting you," Weinberg adds. "Just be as understanding as possible."
His Good Friend Gets Married
While you may feel elated when a close pal get-hitched, panic might set in for your guy. "As his friends begin settling down, he worries about how the life and friends he knew are going to change," says Glenn Good, PhD, associate professor of counseling psychology at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He may need to assert his independence, so try not to wig out if he seems to be planning more boys' nights.
