May 31--Richmond authorities probing the weekend shooting death of a man in Gilpin Court are investigating whether the victim may have been accidentally killed.

Officials said Jerry Miles was in a gold Lexus with his adult son just before midnight Saturday when the shooting occurred at Second and Hill streets.

Miles, 56, of the 3100 block of Third Avenue in Richmond, was struck in the arm by a bullet fired from a .40-caliber weapon. Officials said the shot ruptured an artery, and Miles died a short time later at VCU Medical Center.

Police on Tuesday apprehended Verdon Taylor, 42, in connection with the shooting.
