May 25--People love parades and, of course, the events are even more enjoyable when they mean something. And that's why Memorial Day activities are so loved; they are a chance to honor and give back to those who fought for our rights. So wave those flags and cheer those marchers; here's a list of the 2007 Memorial Day events:
--New Haven: At 1 p.m. Sunday, at Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Long Wharf there will be a wreath-laying. At 3 p.m., Mayor DeStefano will lay a wreath during a ceremony on the Green. Orchestra New England will perform a Memorial Day concert at 5 p.m. Sunday. Sponsored by the New Haven Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee, the show is at the Shubert Theatre, 247 College St. Tickets are free and available in advance at the Shubert box office by calling (203) 562-5666. Some seats will still be available the day of the show.
--Ansonia: Parade steps off at 2 p.m. Sunday from Nolan Athletic Complex on Wakelee Avenue, heads down Jackson Street, crosses over the Maple Street bridge and turns right on Main Street, continues down Main Street to the end of the route at Big Y Shopping Center.
