May 25--Local officials voiced mixed reactions to the express bus plan that Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker unveiled Thursday.

Walker called for using part of $91.5 million in long-unused federal transportation aid to create two Milwaukee County Transit System express bus routes, with money left over for a third route if the first two succeed. He's asking for his plan to be studied alongside one from Mayor Tom Barrett that would establish two express bus routes and a downtown streetcar loop.

Downtown Ald. Bob Bauman blasted Walker's proposal as an "anti-transit transit plan" that wouldn't connect buses with the downtown …
