May 23--TAMPA -- In the movie "Waitress," which hits movie theaters Friday, actress Keri Russell portrays Jenna, a diner waitress in a small Southern town with a penchant for baking pies that channel the twisted relationships in her life.
When her abusive husband finds stashes of money she has hidden from him, she bakes an "I Hate My Husband Pie." When a tryst with her married OB/GYN spins out of control, she makes an "I Can't Handle an Affair Because It's Wrong & I Don't Want Earl to Kill Me Pie."
It was Erin Eagleton's job to make it all look delicious.
As the prop master on the film, Eagleton and his crew had to make hundreds of pies for the movie's scenes And since the pies were so integral to the story line and the characters, there was extra emphasis on enhancing their eye appeal.
As he explained during a recent interview by phone from California, it wasn't an easy task. Especially since he had never baked a pie before doing the movie.
First of all, let me mention that I've gone on record saying this is the best pie movie in Hollywood history.
