Pass the apron to the next generation of celebrity chefs, who might be sauteing, stirring and spicing their way to stardom.
The 15 boys and girls who recently participated in a five-week after-school program at Trexler Middle School started out simply and humbly with what culinary artist-in-residence Glenn P. Miller called "mom's mac 'n' beef."
The tasty meal didn't take hours to prepare and was guaranteed to be inexpensive and sure to please even finicky eaters in the students' families.
"This is a secret recipe that goes back to when I was a little kid, except I put more meat in it than my mom did," Miller confided during a class earlier this month.
