A year before Apollo 7 ventured to the moon, 1968 models of Ford's full-size stalwart, the Galaxie 500, began to appear on dealer lots. By that time, Ford had been in its own Galaxie 500 "space race'' for a decade. Available in five trim levels and no fewer than 13 configurations, the 1968 model offered room to roam inside and, in convertible form, a wide-open view of the final frontier.
