The Indianapolis 500 is a set of races within the race. First, a week of practice is followed by the run for the pole. Then the 33-car lineup is set, followed by more practice, dialing in race setups and, finally, the race itself.
This year is about more than Sam Hornish Jr.'s defense of the BorgWarner Trophy or the Andretti family's return. Two women are slated to race at Indy for the first time since 2000, and there could very well be three, a Speedway first.
Hornish won the 500 in his seventh start, and here are seven things to keep an eye on as the month unfolds.
1. Team Penske
