Hendrick Motorsports and its Chevy Impala SSs are making a mockery of NASCAR's new Car of Tomorrow. Instead of tightening competition and helping "have not'' teams get closer to "have'' teams, the boxier, bulkier, less aerodynamic beast has done little more than help Rick Hendrick pay some bills.
Jimmie Johnson's win in the rain-postponed Crown Royal 400 at Richmond was the fourth by Hendrick Motorsports in the four COT races. Kyle Busch won the opener at Bristol in March. A week later, on April 1, teammate Johnson won at Martinsville. Jeff Gordon won two weeks ago at Phoenix, and Johnson won Sunday afternoon's 400-lap, 300-miler at Richmond International Raceway.
It was Johnson's first career win at the three-quarter-mile track, his fourth already this year and the 27th of his career, all with Hendrick. ...
