Citroen driver Sebastien Loeb won the Rally of Argentina, round six of the World Rally Championship, and extended his championship lead. He comfortably defeated the Ford duo, Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen, who still ensured that their team held on to the manufacturers' championship lead.
But the rally's main talking point was the chaos that reigned after the Thursday night superspecial stage, ambitiously scheduled for the famous River Plate stadium in Buenos Aires, 450 miles east of the rally's headquarters in Ccentsrdoba. The move to Buenos Aires required nine people haulers, 80 cars, 14 vehicle transporters, 500 people and three airplanes.
