May 16--What do you think when you're 17 and your doctor says a tumor is on your brain?
Ardrey Kell High junior soccer star Joy Pittman wondered if she'd make it to senior prom, or ever play again.
"I thought, 'Oh my God, do I have cancer? Am I going to die or something?' " says Pittman, who will lead Ardrey Kell into today's 7 p.m. third-round home playoff game against East Burke.
"There was definitely a lot of prayer going on. It came as such a shock."
This all started last fall. Pittman forgot simple things. She was getting headaches. She was having "funky spasms, almost like mini-seizures."
She knew something wasn't right.
But she just wasn't expecting a neurologist to tell her she had a dime-size tumor on her brain the day before Halloween.
