May 15--Carrying out a promise she made in January, Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton pledged $12.5 million in Disney money toward building a proposed performing-arts center in downtown Orlando.

Disney's gift -- its largest ever for any Central Florida project -- will mean that the 1,800-seat acoustic hall inside the arts center will be named for the entertainment giant.

"It's great to see some real Disney magic," said Orlando City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, who predicted the arts center will be built even if two other proposed community projects -- the more controversial new arena and renovated Florida Citrus ...
