May 13--N.B. Mills Elementary in Statesville will open this fall as a renovated and expanded school that will serve pre-K to fifth grade.
It's part of the Iredell-Statesville Schools plan to merge the pre-K to second grades at N.B. Mills with the third to fifth grades at Monticello Elementary.
Stacy Williams, principal of both schools, said the consolidation will make it easier for students to transition through the different grade levels and for the staff to share resources such as books, computer labs and the media center under one roof.
