The only bad decision Jeff Gordon made all day was to irritate Earnhardt fans purposely. But the NASCAR star couldn't resist an "in your face'' burnout after winning the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. For millions of Big and Junior fans, it was the lowest point of an eight-day funk during which Gordon tied the late Dale Earnhardt with 76 Cup victories and got number 77 at Talladega, the spiritual capital of Earnhardt Nation.
"Looking back on it and the safety of the fans, it probably was a bad decision,'' Gordon said of his fairly weak burnout.
