May 10--YORK -- A grass-roots effort to stop York school district voters from approving $85 million in bonds Tuesday is gaining steam in the western parts of the district.
A group of residents in the Hickory Grove area purchased and distributed "Vote No" signs this week. They're asking neighbors to spread the message.
The outcry is in response to district officials asking to spend $85 million to build a new high school and renovate two other schools. If successful, the high school would open in 2010 and property taxes would increase by $184 on a $100,000 home.
