May 10--The Arkansas River rose above flood stage Wednesday afternoon at Mulvane and was expected to climb until about noon today, flooding low-lying areas.
The river is expected to crest and its waters begin to recede Friday.
Flood warnings for the river are also in effect until Friday for Derby, Oxford and Arkansas City.
At Oxford, the river fell from a peak of 19.55 feet Tuesday to slightly above 17 feet Wednesday. But it is expected to climb again today and reach almost 19 feet Friday before receding Saturday.
