May 6--The Tuskegee Airmen received recognition for services rendered to the U.S. military during World War II. They were honored March 29 at a Congressional Gold Medal Reception in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.

The Congressional Gold Medal is one of the highest honors given to U.S. military personnel.

Not everyone could make that reception, so the celebrating will continue with a black-tie affair in Detroit.

On Friday, the Tuskegee Airmen National Museum will host a gala celebration at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The program will include a keynote …
