Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway on May 21 will launch an expedited service for domestic intermodal freight that will reduce transit time from Los Angeles to Atlanta by one day.

The new service will re-route domestic traffic from Memphis to Shreveport, La., reducing the length of transit by about 150 miles. Standard service will provide fifth morning availability in Atlanta. The premium Blue Streak service will result in fourth afternoon availability in Atlanta. UP will also provide later departure times from Los Angeles.
