Apr. 30--MOORESVILLE -- Evan Martin couldn't sit still.
He and Lake Norman High School classmate Kyle Wishlinski were about to be judged on how well they'd found and fixed problems in a "bugged" 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. Tens of thousands of dollars in higher-education scholarships rode on their performance.
"I can't even talk to you right now, I'm so nervous," Martin told me as he paced back and forth on the lawn of competition host Pit Instruction & Training in Talbert Business Park.
He shouldn't have worried: Later that afternoon, the two students learned they'd won the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills state title.
