BENTONVILLE, ARK. -- Less than a week after Eduardo Castro-Wright, president and ceo of Wal-Mart's U.S. stores division, saw his reporting relationship change, several executives who report to him saw a shift in their responsibilities as well.
Castro-Wright, who now reports directly to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. president and ceo Lee Scott after previously reporting to Wal-Mart vice chairman John Menzer, quickly elevated Bill Simon to the role of chief operating officer for the company's stores division. Simon, a former Naval officer who also worked for the state of Florida and the Brinker International chain of restaurants, joined Wal-Mart in early 2006 as evp of professional services.
"Bill Simon is a talented leader with broad experience in operations, administration and sales," Castro-Wright said. "As leader of the Wal-Mart professional services business, Bill has proven he can drive innovation, growth and profitability, as he demonstrated with our $4 generic drug program."
