Apr. 29--Saturday was supposed to be a triple-play celebration at the new Judith A. Resnik Field in West Akron, but the cold temperature and drizzly rain fouled out the festivities.

The West Akron Baseball & Softball League marked its opening day, celebrated its 50th anniversary season and dedicated the new Resnik Field in a short ceremony Saturday morning.

Players from the league were expected to open their season with an inaugural game on the field, but those plans were changed by the weather.

The field is part of the new school, the Judith A. Resnik Community Learning Center, that replaced Fairlawn Elementary…
