Bellevue has named an interim police chief.
Deputy Police Chief Linda Pillo will take over the position for Chief Jim Montgomery, who has announced he will retire next month.
Pillo will serve as chief while the city conducts a search for Montgomery's replacement; the recruitment process is expected to be completed in the fall.
Pillo is a graduate of Washington State University and began her law-enforcement career in 1979 as a patrol officer with the Mercer Island Police.
She came to Bellevue in 1986 as an officer and held various positions before being appointed a deputy chief in 2004.
