Apr. 25--A series of funnel clouds and short-lived tornadoes were reported to the National Weather Service on Tuesday evening just west of Nickerson.
The first tornadoes were reported at about 7 p.m., and no injuries or damage to property were reported.
Weather forecasters expected the storm to be stronger earlier this week, but a front coming from Colorado did not move into Kansas as expected, said Leon Wasinger, National Weather Service meteorologist.
As a result, the storm in Kansas produced several rope tornadoes and other weak tornadoes, he said.
