Freshmen told "Bring your own PC."

The 20-campus California State University system is considering a pilot program in which freshmen would be required to own a personal computer. Although for several years numerous private institutions have required their students to own personal computers, public institutions have been reluctant to impose such a criteria for enrollment. According to published reports, three schools -- Sonoma State, Humboldt State, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo -- have asked each chancellor's office for permission to implement the program.
