Maersk Line will drop its service to the Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, in April as part of its revamping of its global network.

Halifax is one of the ports of call on the carrier''s MECL2 service, which links eastern North America and the Middle East and India.

"Maersk Line is responding to a dynamic market demand for faster and more direct service between main markets, and difficult choices had to be made about port coverage," the carrier said. "We are concluding a major review of our services to ensure profitable returns and a competitive deployment of vessel assets."
