Apr. 23--CALGARY, Alberta -- The NHL issued a suspension and two fines against the Flames for their third-period antics in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. Flames goaltender Jamie McLennan was suspended for five games for slashing Wings forward Johan Franzen. The Flames' organization was fined $100,000 and coach Jim Playfair was fined $25,000. With the game out of reach, Calgary was penalized four times in the third for aggressive and illegal use of sticks.
