Apr. 23--Law enforcement officers say a woman who fell out of a boat drowned Sunday afternoon in John J. Moss Lake near Kings Mountain.

The victim has been identified as Freda Deal, 50.

Authorities in Kings Mountain and Cleveland County say she was in a boat with her husband when she apparently reached for an object and fell overboard, sometime about 4 p.m.

A team of 15 divers searched the lake and found her body after 5 p.m. She was found in water that was about 6 feet deep. Water temperatures in the lake are in the upper 50s.

She was pronounced dead, and her body was taken to Carolinas Medical…
