IN THE CASE of Hamdan v Rumsfeld, decided in June 2006, the US Supreme Court held that the military commission set up to try Hamdan was illegal, because its structure and procedures violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and the four Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949.
I believe the public should be told more about the complex issues that arose in the case and will, no doubt, arise in future cases, which have not been well covered here.
