The usual suspects will line up to display high-end imaging wares at Seybold San Francisco this week with output devices expected to dominate this year's show.
> RIPs. Canon U.S.A. Inc. will introduce the ColorPass 1000 RIP server as well as its Color Copier 700 and 800 models. The 7-page-per-minute Color Copier 800 supports automatic duplexing.
ColorAge Inc. and ColorBus Inc. will demonstrate RIP servers that can drive multiple color copiers. ColorBus will introduce CopiPress, a device that can fuse color-copier images to cardboard, cloth, metal and wood.
Power Mac RIPs based on Adobe Systems Inc.'s CPSI (Configurable PostScript Software Interpreter) Level 2 will include PrePress Solutions Inc.'s Panther imagesetter systems and SuperMac Technology Inc.'s Splash models. ECRM Inc. will demonstrate its $7,500 Power Mac RIP, a new version of its Harlequin-based Level 2 RIP for ECRM's ScriptSetter imagesetters.
Agfa, a division of Miles Inc., will demonstrate three new RIP models and CristalRaster 2.5, the latest version of its stochastic screening technology. It will also show the entry-level Elan 500 imagesetter and the Agfaproof System 2 contract-proofing processor.
