Even before the end of lap one in the Australian Grand Prix ("Don't Look Back,'' AW, March 26), Keke Rosberg's words about McLaren-Mercedes rookie driver Lewis Hamilton came to mind. A few weeks earlier, in discussing the 2007 Formula One season, former world champion Rosberg made it clear that Hamilton is the real deal.
"He's unbelievably brave-I mean, Gilles-brave,'' Rosberg said.
That registered. Rosberg fought the late Gilles Villeneuve on many occasions, beginning in Formula Atlantic. "Gilles,'' he said, "was . . . totally fearless.''
