Apr. 18--The cleanup and repairs continue today across western North Carolina, in the wake of the damaging wind storm that hit the region late Sunday and Monday. Duke Energy reports about 44,000 customers still without power today. Most of Mecklenburg County has power restored however. Duke Energy said only 590 Mecklenburg customers were in the dark this morning -- down from a high of more than 21,000 at midday Monday.
