Everything seemed perfect last year, when I was 21 and a junior in college. Julian, my boyfriend of one year, and I were so in love. My friends thought we had the perfect relationship, always saying that we looked so cute together. But as I'd soon find out, looks can be deceiving.
The trouble started that summer, when Julian left for two months to study Spanish in Mexico. When school first let out, he went home to Houston, and I was at my parents' house in Michigan, but we constantly talked on the phone. Once he went to Mexico though we cut down on the phone calls because the long-distance charges cost us a fortune. So we decided to communicate by Facebook, which worked better for us than email because we got so much spam. For the first few (lays, Julian contacted me a lot. But when the weekend came, I didn't hear from him ... and I couldn't reach him either.
I was so lonely. And to make matters worse, I had the stomach flu and was throwing up for four days straight. It wasn't like Julian not to call. He knew I was sick, and he was always so caring. Now, he wasn't even checking in. I knew something was wrong; I could just feel it.
